Chemical Peels

facelift

Aging is unavoidable. It’s a fact of life. While you may be able to hold back the signs of aging on your skin for while with over the counter treatments and a strict skin regimen, at some point you will begin to notice a change. Fine lines, acne scars, and age spots can all begin to appear on your skin. Thankfully there are treatments available to help combat these signs and provide you with younger-looking skin. Contact us today at Cosmetic Surgery of DFW to learn more!

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is an anti-aging treatment used to exfoliate the dead skin cells using a chemical solution. By removing the older skin cells, signs of aging such as small wrinkles and hyperpigmentation are lessened. This safe and effective treatment can be used for a number of aging signs such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Acne scarring
  • Dull complexion
  • Imbalanced skin tone

To find out if this treatment is right for you, schedule your consultation with a member of our experienced staff.

Types of Chemical Peels

Superficial
With this peel, a mild acid is used to gently exfoliate the outer layer of skin. This is the most mild version of the peel and results in less peeling than the other peel options. Superficial chemical peels can be used on mild skin discoloration and skin roughness.

Medium
A stronger mixture of acid is prepared to penetrate the middle and outer layers of the skin and remove the dead cells. It can be used to treat a variety of signs of aging such as age spots, fine lines, and moderate skin discoloration.

Deep
This chemical peel works to remove dead skin cells from the middle layer of the skin. It is most commonly used to treat shallow scars, age spots, and moderate lines. A deep peel should only be used for dramatic skin changes.

What can I expect?

During your treatment, a member of our staff will cleanse the skin on the face to prepare for the chemical peel. Once the peel is applied, your skin will begin to peel for the next few days. As the skin peels, the more youthful complexion below will be revealed.

Most people see results immediately following their treatment, with optimal results being seen several days after their peel. Some people may need multiple chemical peels to reach their desired results.

Am I a candidate?

If you are looking for a non-surgical way to refresh your skin, a chemical peel may be right for you. This treatment is best used for those concerned with small wrinkles and uneven skin complexion. Those with skin laxity or moderate wrinkles should look into other treatment options.
